"The meaning of a word is not as exact as the meaning of a color. Colors and shapes make a more definite statement than words"...."I make this effort because no one else can know how my paintings happen."

Georgia O'Keeffe

My "artist statement" are the paintings I make.

Painting is a mysterious and powerful language that speaks without words. A painting can draw you in, move you, wake you, transform you, make you feel, change the way you see, express something for you that you cannot express...

…And sometimes there can be the experience of catharsis when you are ready to see the painting that sees you.

I like what Joan Mitchell had to say about Painting:

"Painting is the only art form except still photography which is without time. Music takes time to listen to and ends, writing takes time and ends, movies end, ideas and even sculpture take time. Painting does not. It never ends, it is the only thing that is both continuous and still."

As for me, a good day's work is when the painting paints itself --- when the painting is telling me what to do.
